What's different about Air?
Choose Spencer Air for a mesh feel from your upper back through to your lumbar support, with armrests you can reposition as your posture changes. The original Spencer offers a distinct TPU lumbar band with independent three-step adjustment. Air's main change is in materials and support experience, rather than higher numbers across every specification.

Frequently asked questions (FAQ)
What is the difference between Spencer Air and the original Spencer?
Spencer Air is the next generation of the original Spencer, with upgrades focused on breathability, adjustability and everyday comfort.
The key changes include a full-mesh seat and backrest, integrated adjustable mesh lumbar support, full-function multi-directional armrests and an upgraded Class 4 gas lift.
Together, these upgrades give Spencer Air greater flexibility across upper-body support, lower-back support and reclined sitting.
What makes the Spencer Air armrests different?
Spencer Air features full-function, multi-directional adjustable armrests designed to adapt to different sitting positions and activities.
They can be repositioned and rotated to provide more precise forearm support while typing, using a mouse, reading, gaming or reclining. Compared with basic height-adjustable armrests, they offer greater flexibility for fine-tuning your arm position throughout the day.
Is Spencer Air a full-mesh ergonomic chair?
Yes. Spencer Air features breathable mesh across both the seat and backrest.
The full-mesh design helps improve airflow and provides a responsive sitting surface, making it well suited to long working sessions and warmer Australian conditions.
How does the lumbar support work?
Spencer Air uses integrated adjustable mesh lumbar support rather than a separate hard lumbar pad.
The lumbar support is designed to follow the natural curve of the lower back while maintaining a more flexible feel across the backrest. It can also be adjusted to better suit different body shapes and sitting positions.
How far can Spencer Air recline?
Spencer Air reclines from approximately 90° to 140°, allowing you to move between focused upright sitting and a more relaxed reclined position.
It also includes a retractable footrest for additional support when reclining or taking a break.
What height range is Spencer Air suitable for?
Spencer Air is recommended for users approximately 150–200 cm tall.
As body proportions vary, we also recommend considering seat height, seat depth, desk height and your preferred sitting position when choosing an ergonomic chair.
What is the maximum weight capacity?
Spencer Air has a maximum rated weight capacity of 150 kg.
It features a heavy-duty chair structure and an upgraded Class 4 gas lift designed for reliable everyday use in both home and office environments.
Is Spencer Air suitable for long hours of sitting?
Yes. Spencer Air is designed for extended desk use, including office work, working from home, studying and gaming.
Its breathable mesh construction, adjustable lumbar support, 3D headrest, full-function armrests and recline system allow you to adjust your sitting position throughout the day.
Is Spencer Air difficult to assemble?
No. Spencer Air is supplied flat-packed with the required tools and step-by-step assembly instructions.
Assembly is straightforward and can typically be completed in around 10–15 minutes.
What warranty does Spencer Air come with?
Spencer Air comes with a 10-year warranty, subject to Shappa’s warranty terms and conditions.
The warranty provides long-term coverage for eligible components under normal residential or office use.
